Well, just does not seem like I am spending enough time on this project...blogging. Wonder why that is.....such good intentions at the start, but it sort of fizzles out as I get busy.
So, the last time we chatted, I had just sent in my entries to a fabrications/art exhibit. Unfortunately, none of my quilts/designs were picked. But, that does not deter me...I am still at it.
This is what I have finished in the past month...

I have not done my hand sewing on the binding, yet...in this picture. Yes, I looks like it is a bit crooked, but it is actually the way that I cut it. I have used this cut on a number of different projects. I go back to it, because the angle across the bottom adds so much depth to the field.

I have also made a couple of flannel baby quilts since I finished this one. I love the frayed edge flannel baby quilts...so easy to make and so quick. The first one that I made...was practical. At least that was what the father of baby called it. Darker colored, luscious Maywood Woolies Flannel. It is such a nice soft flannel. However, I next made a "cute" frayed edge flannel quilt out of fabric that was purchased at my local Joann's store. I was not completely satisfied with the results. Not soft or fuzzy enough. Feels too limp...I guess we all live and learn, or is that live to learn.

Okay, for the past month I have been working towards an end. I was making/finishing projects to submit to a juried show. I have NEVER done this before. I am actually pretty excited that I made the deadline, which was yesterday, January 17, 2014. I only had to enter pictures at this point. So, these are the three projects that I entered.

These are the three. I am so proud of the work that I have been able to do towards the end...the end being, creating quilting art! These are entirely made from fabric and are a blast to make. I am currently working on another project. It is still in the start mode, working things out! More pictures will follow.
Anyways, the three projects were submitted to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show...for an art exhibit entitled...Fabrications-The Art of Quilting. It is a show for the entire month of March and is on exhibit at Franklin's Crossing In Bend, Oregon. Keeping my fingers crossed that at least one of my projects will make it. I will let you know in three weeks, when I will find out if I have made it into a juried show.
Stay Tuned.......

Well, that is not what I expected...

Well, it is not...I expected that I would find time and things to post about, well, forever. But, I can see that is not happening. It seems like the last two months have just sped by. November was the month I prepared for the Christmas Bazaar. And after spending an entire month to get ready.....it snowed on the first day of the Bazaar. For some of you, this is not a big deal. But, we are talking about the rainy, wet, Willamette Valley, Oregon. We DON'T do snow. Our cities are not equipped for snow removal. But, it was not a good Friday morning, to look outside and see 10-12" of snow. But, we managed. The husband outfitted the car with the studded tires. We are really prepared for this weather, we have an all wheel drive vehicle and four studded snow tires...the reason is...to see the grand-daughters in Eastern Oregon, it is a drive over two mountain passes...and in the winter they can be very snowy.
But, the Bazaar went off with a hitch. Business was brisk, I did well, but as a booth operator, we always hope for better than better.
December was short on days or at least it seemed like it because Thanksgiving was so late. December was spent trying to catch up on small little customer orders and getting things ready for the grand-daughters. Since three of them live in Georgia, I have to make sure that those gifts get in the mail....in time to get to them for Christmas....and then the additional issue is that one of the girls has a birthday a week before Christmas, so the scramble is on.
So, the holidays are over....for another year. I am currently working on my last customer quilt. I am ready to take my time and go in a new direction. I will be posting pictures as soon as I am ready, pictures of this grand new passion in quilting. For now, I am busy working towards an entry into a contest this month. So, I am off and running. I will check back here more often...I promise,.....I think....fingers crossed.....
